Information about Fall 2012 Schedule

Post date: Aug 22, 2012 3:32:02 AM

Hi karate-ka,

I hope you've had a great summer.  Fall is approaching quickly and we're gearing up for a new year of karate. The new term begins on Thursday 6 September, with the family class at 6:30.

Once again, we're running 2 longer terms, in order to give everybody more time to learn and to practice. The fall term runs from September 6 through 24 January, with a break over Christmas. And then the winter term runs until mid-June.  Details will be posted on the website calendar soon.  Also, we were pleased with the weekend gradings, so we will be running them on the Saturday following the final class of the term. The longer terms will enable us to provide students with more preparation prior to gradings and the dedicated gradings will help us to better evaluate students who are moving up to a new rank.  Prices for the family class remain at $100 for the term.

One change from last year is that we're combining the introductory and family classes. So there is not going to be a separate 5:30 introductory class. Combining the classes will give the new karate-ka an opportunity to see how more advanced students work.

Our annual tournament is booked for Saturday 10 November, at Central Memorial High. Be sure to save the date. It's always a busy and exciting day.

Registration for the fall term will be prior to the first class, from 6:30, at our dojo in Christ Church. Please make cheques payable to "GKC". We'll be issuing hand-written receipts for the childrens' fitness tax credit during registration. New students, please show up at the registration night on Thursday.
