Glamorgan Karate Club
Fall 2022 Classes
The Glamorgan Karate Club (GKC) is a Wado Kai Karate club operating in Elbow Park, Calgary. Wado Kai (Way of Peace) Karate is a martial art that teaches effective self-defence skills by developing explosive power, timing and coordination. Students acquire strength, endurance, flexibility and cardio-vascular fitness through the practice of basic techniques. We place a strong emphasis on strengthening character so that violent confrontation can be avoided.
The Adult and Family (beginner and advanced) classes are all running this fall and are open for registration now. New students are welcome! We are expecting to be back in the dojo this fall and our registration and fee structure is based on being in the dojo.
Fall Classes Start Dates:
Adult Class: Thursday, September 8, 2022
Family Class (Beginner)
& Little Ninjas: Thursday, September 8, 2022
Family Class (Intermediate): Monday, September 12, 2022
Update to minimum age to join the Adult Class
We have updated our age bracket to 14 years old to join the Adult class. The Adult class is more stimulating and challenging for a teenager and we feel progress will be faster for this age group. Depending on the comfort level of a younger student, that student could attend the family / advanced class instead.
General registration is now OPEN!
Adult Club Members
Adults are welcome to join at any point during the year, so this registration page will always be open.
Family classes (Beginner & Intermediate)
Registration for the fall term is now open. New students are welcome. For more information about classes, fees and times, look here.
Due to low enrolment, we will look to run the Little Ninjas in Feb, 2023
As a club we continue to monitor what Alberta Health Services provides as guidelines and will adjust classes as required. We do have the ability to do Zoom training. Due, however, to how dynamic the Family (both beginner and intermediate) classes can be, we will not be able to do both live (in-dojo) and Zoom (virtual) training at the same time.
Please be respectful of all students. If you feel a cold coming on, take the night off and stay home.
Extra Requirements for Virtual Training
We conduct our remote training over Zoom. You will need a computer with a webcam or tablet to join the session. The more space you can find to train in, the better; but many of us are training in exceptionally tight spaces (10' x 10').
